Enuma Elish: Creation Tablets 1.0.0
This is an app of L.W. Kings' authoritative work on the EnumaElish, the Babylonian creation myth. This app includes the completeEnglish text of the Enuma Elish. The Enuma Elish is the earliestwritten creation myth, in which the God Marduk battles the chaosGoddess Tiamat and her evil minions. The name 'Enuma Elish' isderived from the first two words of the myth, meaning 'When in theHeight'. Tiamat takes the form of a gigantic snake, and Mardukbattles and defeats her using an arsenal of super-weapons. Afterhis victory Marduk is made the leader of the Gods by acclamation.Marduk divides Tiamat's corpse into two portions, the upper halfbecoming the sky and the lower half, the earth. Marduk then createshumanity from his blood and bone. Emerald Tablets of Thoth 1.0.1
The history of the tablets translated in the following pages isstrange and beyond the belief of modern scientists. Their antiquityis stupendous, dating back some 36,000 years B.C. The writer isThoth, an Atlantean Priest-King, who founded a colony in ancientEgypt after the sinking of the mother country. He was the builderof the Great Pyramid of Giza, erroneously attributed to Cheops. Init he incorporated his knowledge of the ancient wisdom and alsosecurely secreted records and instruments of ancient Atlantis. Thisversion of 'The Emerald Tablets of Thoth' was translated by Doreal.[Note: This classic writing compliments of The Diamond’s MineOnline Library. It is public domain and may be distributed freely.]

The Emerald Tablet 1.0.1
History of the Tablet (largely summarised from Needham 1980, &Holmyard 1957): The Tablet probably first appeared in the West ineditions of the psuedo-Aristotlean Secretum Secretorum which wasactually a translation of the Kitab Sirr al-Asar, a book of adviceto kings which was translated into latin by Johannes Hispalensis c.1140 and by Philip of Tripoli c.1243. Other translations of theTablet may have been made during the same period by Plato of Tivoliand Hugh of Santalla, perhaps from different sources. The date ofthe Kitab Sirr al-Asar is uncertain, though c.800 has beensuggested and it is not clear when the tablet became part of thiswork. Holmyard was the first to find another early arabic version(Ruska found a 12th centruy recension claiming to have beendictated by Sergius of Nablus) in the Kitab Ustuqus al-Uss al-Thani(Second Book of the Elements of Foundation) attributed to Jabir.Shortly after Ruska found another version appended to the KitabSirr al-Khaliqa wa San`at al-Tabi`a (Book of the Secret of Creationand the Art of Nature), which is also known as the Kitab Balaniyusal-Hakim fi'l-`Ilal (book of Balinas the wise on the Causes). Ithas been proposed that this book was written may have been writtenas early as 650, and was definitely finished by the Caliphate ofal-Ma'mun (813-33). Scholars have seen similarities between thisbook and the Syriac Book of Treasures written by Job of Odessa (9thcentury) and more interestingly the Greek writings of the bishopNemesius of Emesa in Syria from the mid fourth century. Howeverthough this suggests a possible Syriac source, non of thesewritings contain the tablet. Balinas is usually identified withApollonius of Tyna, but there is little evidence to connect himwith the Kitab Balabiyus, and even if there was,the story impliesthat Balinas found the tablet rather than wrote it, and the recentdiscoveries of the dead sea scrolls and the nag hamamdi textssuggest that hiding texts in caves is not impossible, even if wedid not have the pyramids before us. Ruska has suggested an originfurther east, and Needham has proposed an origin in China.Holmyard, Davis and Anon all consider that this Tablet may be oneof the earliest of all alchemical works we have that survives. Itshould be remarked that apparantly the Greeks and Egyptians usedthe termtranslated as `emerald' for emeralds, green granites, "andperhaps green jasper". In medieval times the emerald table of theGothic kings of Spain, and the Sacro catino- a dish said to havebelonged to the Queen of Sheba, to have been used at the lastsupper, and to be made of emerald, were made of green glass [Steeleand Singer: 488]. Hermetism 1.0.1
"The purpose of this work [app] is not the enunciation of anyspecial philosophy or doctrine, but rather is to give to thestudents a statement of the Truth that will serve to reconcile themany bits of occult knowledge that they may have acquired, butwhich are apparently opposed to each other and which often serve todiscourage and disgust the beginner in the study. Our intent is notto erect a new Temple of Knowledge, but rather to place in thehands of the student a Master-Key with which he may open the manyinner doors in the Temple of Mystery through the main portals hehas already entered. There is no portion of the occult teachingspossessed by the world which have been so closely guarded as thefragments of the Hermetic Teachings which have come down to us overthe tens of centuries which have elapsed since the lifetime of itsgreat founder, Hermes Trismegistus, the "scribe of the gods," whodwelt in old Egypt in the days when the present race of men was inits infancy. Contemporary with Abraham, and, if the legends betrue, an instructor of that venerable sage, Hermes was, and is, theGreat Central Sun of Occultism, whose rays have served to illuminethe countless teachings which have been promulgated since his time. All the fundamental and basic teachings embedded in the esotericteachings of every race may be traced back to Hermes. Even the mostancient teachings of India undoubtedly have their roots in theoriginal Hermetic Teachings." - Three Initiates [Note: The twosource materials for this app came from two public domain books. One is entitled, 'Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, byChrysogonus Polydorus, and the other is entitled, The Kybalion, byThree Initiates.] In L.V.X.
Qabalistic Tree of Life 1.0.2
Hermetic Qabalists believe the Tree of Life to be a diagrammaticrepresentation of the process by which Man, the Universe, and Godcame into being. "Each Sephirah (which is the singular form of theword of which Sephiroth is the plural) is a phase of evolution, andin the language of the Rabbis they are called the Ten HolyEmanations. The Paths between them are phases of subjectiveconsciousness, the Paths or grades (Latin, gradus, step) by whichthe soul unfolds its realization of the cosmos. The Sephiroth areobjective; the Paths are subjective... It is not my intention towrite a historical study of the sources of the Qabalah, but ratherto show the uses that are made of it by modern students of theMysteries. For although the roots of our system are in tradition, there is no reason why we should be hidebound by tradition... I donot claim that the modern Qabalistic teachings as I have learntthem are identical with those of the pre-Christian Rabbis, but Iclaim that they are the legitimate descendants thereof and thenatural development therefrom." - Dion Fortune [Note: The sourcematerial for this app came from a public domain book entitled, TheMystical Qabalah, by Dion Fortune.] In L.V.X.

Coptic Gospel of Thomas 1.0.0
The Gospel of Thomas is a collection of traditional Sayings(logoi)of Jesus. It is attributed to Didymos Judas Thomas, the"DoubtingThomas" of the canonical Gospels, and according to manyearlytraditions, the twin brother of Jesus ("didymos" means "twin"inGreek). There has been much speculation on the relationshipofThomas to the canonical Gospels. Many Sayings in Thomashaveparallels with the New Testament Sayings, especially thosefound inthe synoptic Gospels. This leads many to believe thatThomas wasalso based on the so-called "Q" Document, along withMatthew, Luke, and Mark. Indeed, some have speculated that Thomasmay in fact be"Q". Unlike the synoptic Gospels, and like "Q", theGospel ofThomas has no narrative connecting the various Sayings. Inform, itis simply a list of 114 Sayings, in no particular order.Comparisonwith New Testament parallels show that Thomas containseither moreprimitive versions of the Sayings, or developments ofmoreprimitive versions. Either way, Thomas seems to preserveearliertraditions about Jesus than the New Testament...

Degrees of Freemasonry (American Rite) 1.0.1
"American Rite. It has been proposed, and I think with propriety, togive this name to the series of degrees conferred in theUnitedStates. The York Rite, which is the name by which they areusuallydesignated, is certainly a misnomer, for the York Riteproperlyconsists of only the degrees of Entered Apprentice, FellowCraft, and Master Mason, including in the last degree the Holy RoyalArch. This was the Masonry that existed in England at the time oftherevival of the Grand Lodge in 1717. The abstraction of theRoyalArch from the Master's degree, and its location as aseparatedegree, produced that modification of the York Rite whichnowexists in England, and which should properly be called theModernYork Rite, to distinguish it from the Ancient York Rite, whichconsisted of only three degrees. But in the United Statesstillgreater additions have been made to the Rite, through thelabors ofWebb and other lecturers, and the influence insensiblyexerted onthe Order by the introduction of the Ancient and AcceptedRite intothis country. The American modification of the York Rite,or theAmerican Rite, consists of nine degrees, viz. : 1.EnteredApprentice. 2. Fellow Craft. 3. Master Mason. 4. MarkMaster. 6.Past Master. 6. Most Excellent Master. 7. Holy RoyalArch. 8. RoyalMaster. 9. Select Master. A tenth degree, calledSuper-ExcellentMaster, is conferred in some Councils as an honoraryrather than asa regular degree ; but even as such it is repudiatedby many GrandCouncils. To these, perhaps, should be added threemore degrees, namely, Knight of the Red Cross, Knight Templar, andKnight ofMalta, which are given in Commanderies, and are under thecontrolof Grand Commanderies, or, as they are sometimes called.GrandEncampments. But the degrees of the Commandery, which arealsoknown as the degrees of Chivalry, can hardly be called a partofthe American Rite. The possession of the eighth and ninthdegreesis not considered a necessary qualification for receivingthem. Thetrue American Rite consists only of the nine degrees, aboveenumerated. There is, or may be, a Grand Lodge, GrandChapter,Grand Council, and Grand Commandery in each State, whosejurisdiction is distinct and sovereign within its ownterritory. There is no General Grand Lodge, or Grand Lodge of theUnitedStates ; but there is a General Grand Chapter and aGrandEncampment, to which the Grand Chapters and Grand Commanderiesofsome, but not all, of the States are subject." - Albert G.Mackey(An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry)

Degrees of Freemasonry (A. A. Scottish Rite) 1.0.0
Scottish Rite. French writers call this the " Ancient andAcceptedRite," but as the Latin Constitutions of the Orderdesignate it asthe " Antiquus' Scoticus Ritus Acceptus," or the "Ancient andAccepted Scottish Rite," that title has now been verygenerallyadopted as the correct name of the Rite. Although one oftheyoungest of the Masonic Rites, having been established notearlierthan the year 1801, it is at this day the most popular andthe mostextensively diffused. Supreme Councils or governing bodiesof theRite are to be found in almost every civilized country oftheworld, and in many of them it is the only Masonic obedience.Thehistory of its organization is briefly this. In 1758, a bodywasorganized at Paris called the "Council of Emperors of the EastandWest." This Council organized a Rite called the " RiteofPerfection," which consisted of twenty-five degrees, the highestofwhich was "Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret." In 1761,thisCouncil granted a Patent or Deputation to StephenMorin, authorizing him to propagate the Rite in the Westerncontinent, whither he was about to repair. In the same year, Morinarrived atthe city of St. Domingo, where he commenced thedissemination ofthe Rite, and appointed many Inspectors, both forthe West Indiesand for the United States. Among others, heconferred the degreeson M. Hayes, with a power of appointing otherswhen necessary.Hayes accordingly appointed Isaac Da Costa DeputyInspector-Generalfor South Carolina, who in 1783 introduced theRite into that Stateby the establishment of a Grand Lodge ofPerfection in Charleston.Other Inspectors were subsequentlyappointed, and in 1801 a SupremeCouncil was opened in Charleston byJohn Mitchell and FrederickDalcho. There is abundant evidence inthe Archives of the SupremeCouncil that up to that time thetwenty-five degrees of the Rite ofPerfection were alone recognized. But suddenly, with theorganization of the Supreme Council, therearose a new Rite, fabricated by the adoption of eight more of thecontinental highdegrees, so as to make the thirty-third and not thetwenty-fifthdegree the summit of the Rite. The Rite consists ofthirty-threedegrees, which are divided into seven sections, eachsection beingunder an appropriate jurisdiction.

The next truth thatthispaper (app) hopes to show, and that from the symbolicalandtraditional evidence in Masonry itself, is that from thebeginningsof all stages of human enlightenment and knowledge manhas lookedup to some superior being as the focal point of hisreligiousperception. It is further hoped that the thoughtful readerperceivethat, as the three Craft degrees symbolize the threeprincipalstages of human life — youth, manhood and old-age — initsdevelopment, both physically and spiritually, the institutionofFreemasonry has passed through these stages ofdevelopment. Finally, that in speculative Masonry, symbolizing theperiod ofold-age, it attains to the highest of all spiritualtraditions, which is, "That Temple not made with hands, eternal intheheavens," or the "Spiritual Temple" which also rests uponthatbasic foundation of eternal verity on which all men can agreeandbuild, and in which all men are brothers." - Horace Sykes[Note:The source materials for this app came from a public domainbookentitled, Ancient Religious Traditions and Symbols inFreemasonry,by Horace Sykes, and, An Encyclopedia of Freemasonryand itsKindred Sciences, by Albert C. The Gospel of Matthew (KJV) 1.0.1
The complete King James version of the Holy Gospel of Matthew, theApostle. Although the first Gospel is anonymous, the earlychurchfathers were unanimous in holding that Matthew, one of the12apostles, was its author. However, the results of moderncriticalstudies -- in particular those that stress Matthew'sallegeddependence on Mark for a substantial part of his Gospel --havecaused some Biblical scholars to abandon Matthean authorship. Why,they ask, would Matthew, an eyewitness to the events of ourLord'slife, depend so heavily on Mark's account? The best answerseems tobe that he agreed with it and wanted to show that theapostolictestimony to Christ was not divided. Matthew, whose namemeans''gift of the Lord,'' was a tax collector who left his worktofollow Jesus (9:9-13). In Mark and Luke he is called by hisothername, Levi.

Charge given to Enoch: the fourIntercalary Days: theStars which lead the Seasons and the Months.GENERAL CONTENTS: TheBook of the Courses of the HeavenlyLuminaries: In lxxiv. 12 itsays: "And the sun and the stars bringin all the years exactly, sothat they do not advance or delaytheir position by a single dayunto eternity; but complete theyears with perfect justice in 364days." 1 This gives the key-noteof this book, viz. that time is tobe reckoned by the sun, not bythe moon (see further on this thesection on Authorship, above).Until we come to chapter lxxx. thisbook is uninteresting in theextreme; it purports to tell in detailof the laws by which thesun, moon, stars and the winds aregoverned; they are described byUriel, "the holy angel," to theApocalyptist. The four quarters ofthe world, the seven mountainsand the seven rivers are also dealtwith. "The author has no otherinterest save a scientific onecoloured by Jewish conceptions andbeliefs." 2 It is, however, different when we come to chapter lxxx.2-8; the whole tone altersin these verses, in which it is said thatowing to the sin of menthe moon and the sun will mislead them. Anethical thought is thusbrought in which is wholly lacking in theprevious chapters of thisbook; this is also true of chapter lxxxi.;it is probable thatneither of these chapters stood here originally.Regarding thepoint of the 364 days to the year which the writer ofthis bookmakes, Charles says that "he did this only through sheerincapacityfor appreciating an thing better; for he must have beenacquaintedwith the solar year of 365¼ days. His acquaintance withthe Greekcycles shows this. . . . The author's reckoning of theyear at 364days may be partly due to his opposition to heathensystems, andpartly to the fact that 364 is divisible by seven, andamounts tofifty-two weeks exactly." In any case, he is opposed tothe lunaryear, the Pharisaic way of reckoning time; and this is animportantpoint in favour of Sadducæan authorship. It will be notedthat thisbook was written in post-Maccabæan times; it was aftertheMaccabæan struggle that the Sadducees and Pharisees appearedasparties definitely opposed to one another.
